Reading Notes: Mahabharata Part C
Hey everyone, Nitrodubbz here again back with more Mahabharata.
The Pandava brothers are still in exile, this time they come across a lake while looking for some stuff that an ascetic lost. They're all thirsty so they drink from the lake and die, when Yudhistira comes along, the God of the lake (secretly Yama) tests him to see if he is pure of heart. When Yudhistira answers his questions correctly, he revives his brothers and grants them the ability to remain incognito, allowing them to live in a city without being recognized and exiled back into the wilderness for another twelve years.
They go to this city, I can't remember the name, but the king's name is Virata. Their cousins get concerned that the twelve years is almost up, and the spies have returned with no reports of the Pandava brothers because of their blessing granted by Yama. However, they hear of a rumor that the general of Virata has died, so they figure it might have something to do with the brothers. Regardless, they decide to attack the kingdom anyways, since it is now weak.
During the attack, Arjuna is itching to use out all the cool astras he got from the Gods, and he reveals himself and fights his old master, Drona. The battle with Drona is purely for sport, but Arjuna beats the crud out of Karna, then surrounds Duryodhana's army and puts them all to sleep.
After their period of exile is over, Yuhistira asks the Kaurava brothers for five villages, but the brothers would rather go to war. King Dritarashtra finally realizes that the warpath they are on will be their downfall. Duryodhana is unwavering in his desire to destroy the Pandava brothers, and Karna reveals that Parashurama gave him the Brahma Astra (a really powerful weapon). Vyasa tells Dritarashtra that their clan's end is coming soon.
Well, that's all for today. Until next time, I'm NitroDubbz.
