Week 3 Story: Parashurama 40k

STORY NOW AVAILABLE AT THIS LINK

Parashurama in days of old (source)

By the age of the Fifth Solar Empire humanity was nearing the end of a war that had raged for eons. Their enemy, the Asuras, had been pushed back to the galactic center and was encircled with nowhere to run.

The alien Asuras were the same as the Hindu demons. Their home was the heavens, and they were spread throughout the Galaxy. They were red creatures with four arms, three heads, and taller and stronger than any man. Their constitution made them almost invincible. They could survive any injury short of total disincorporation.

Humanity's first contact with these extra-terrestrials was thousands of years ago, the details lost to history. What mattered was that in the great battle of Earth lord Parashurama revealed himself. When humanity's empire had been destroyed and pushed back to Sol, Parashurama stepped down from his thousand-year meditiation, and cut the skies in twain with Vidyudabhi. The demonic invasion was repelled, and humanity began to worship Parashurama as an emperor and a God.

Now, thousands of years later, Parashurama led humanity on an endless campaign of bloodshed. Purging the galaxy of Asuras, and halting their viral spread.

He stood eight feet tall, clad in red-and-gold power armor, wielding his axe. His capital ship, The Solemn Benefactor, was 100 miles long. It had wings covering the engine nacelles that were detailed with massive feathers of gold. The bow was the stern visage of Garuda, Vishnu's divine mount. Powered by a neutron star and armed with anti-matter cannons, The Solemn Benefactor had enough raw power to destroy interstellar civilizations.

Now, he stood outside the bridge of his ship, in the vacuum of space. Watching the Asura's desperate final stand against the Human Expeditionary fleet. He called out, and all throughout the Galaxy heard him, even in the vacuum of space.

"Demons that have disrupted cosmic order since the beginning of time, I am here to put an end to you. Had I only known of your home in the heavens during the Treta Yuga, I would surely have ridden Garuda into the Galaxy and vanquished you myself. Now with one swing of my axe, cosmic order shall be restored, and the races you trod upon, Brahma's creations, will be able to live as intended."

With that, Parashurama swung his axe, cutting a line through space that severed the black hole in the middle of the Galaxy. When the two halves collapsed in on themselves back into one, the gravitational shockwave tore the Asura's ships into pieces, their dust forming a bright accretion disk around the new infant black hole.

After saving humanity, the Fifth Solar Empire came to an end as Parashurama disappeared into the Universe. Some say he went to other Galaxies looking for more Asuras. Others believe that he went to the edge of the universe to meditate for eternity and divine the cosmic secrets.

Tens of thousands of years later and many believe that Parashurama is merely a myth used to legitimize the human's control of the Galaxy. However, there are still stories of adventurers landing on virgin planets only to find a man of enormous stature practicing yoga.

Author's note: This is a story about Parashurama. Which is obvious if you read it, why did I bother saying that? He's an avatar of Vishnu, like Rama. He's more aggressive though and he's immortal, so some people think he's still around today. Basically, like Rama, he's supposed to keep order because that's what Vishnu does. So he kills demons and when that's over he goes off and meditates. This story is also inspired by the lore of Warhammer 40k, if you know anything about that universe then you'll see quite a few parallels. That's all for today folks. Until next time, I'm NitroDubbz.

  1. Hello NitroDubbz! I really enjoyed your story. I never read much into Warhammer 40k, but I do know what it is. I enjoyed that fact that you incorporated the fantasy aspect of that series into your story. I also enjoyed that you incorporated the same scenario of the battle that was actually played out in the original story. Your flow and use of words in the story were very good and it was easy to read along without having to go back to previous parts and re-read it. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more of your stories!

  2. Hey NitroDubbz, I really enjoyed your story! What a cool twist on the original lore of Parashurama. I can tell you were well informed on the subject before writing this story. I really only have positive things to say about this post. The flow was excellent and you did a great job of incorporating elements true to the original without sacrificing your own unique take on the story. All around that was a really enjoyable read! I'm looking forward to seeing what you think up next.
